SING ABOUT FACIAL EXPRESSIONS: Introducing, Identifying, Recognizing, Regulating and Revisiting!
The early childhood education world is CHOCK FULL of opportunities that promote exploring and discovering the broad spectrum of emotions that children are just starting to learn about.
Whether they learn from social or structured experiences, understanding their own emotions help children recognize these feelings in others, which helps develop important social skills, like empathy.
Recognizing Facial Expressions: Something to sing about!
“Faces”, from the album “Senses”, is all about what other faces tell us and how each part of our own face shows “what we are feeling inside”.
Children love this video by artist Brett Lamb that shows many different facial expressions. You may have to watch it more than once–but you likely won’t mind, especially when you start hearing the giggles and remarks about which faces are your kids’ favourites.
