Music has a natural ability to capture the attention and focus of babies and young children. Predictable, repetitive patterns naturally implant themselves in the memory, making short, catchy songs an effective tool for teaching early childhood concepts and serve as the perfect memory device for recalling/applying specific information.
Children become open to learning so much when they are moving around, having fun and, similarly, when they feel calm and relaxed. Music’s tempo, pitch, tone and rhythm naturally influences children’s energy levels and can help them construct healthy thought processes and emotional strategies that they can apply to what they feel and experience in life.
The lyrics repeated in a song can easily become part of a child’s inner voice. I have noticed time and time again that “music with a purpose” can be used to impart solid values, provide positive perspective, promote an understanding of how we can help ourselves and make the world a more harmonious place by practising patience, self-love, forgiveness, understanding and empathy.
To create and use song structures, instruments, harmonies and chord progressions/resolutions that appeal to both children and adults, so they can grow together at their different stages of life. I hope my music becomes your family/classroom’s “childhood soundtrack”.
I believe music is more than a “universal language”. It’s a communication tool that works far deeper than words. Music can soothe, reassure, comfort, validate, stimulate, relax and elicit joy in people of all ages, cultures, abilities and intellectual capacity. Music connects us at the roots of our instincts, making it a necessary tool in teaching and nurturing developing minds.
